The journal quilt challenge for 2017 is to create twelve monthly quilts measuring 11" X11". We must decide upon a theme of our own at the beginning of the year. I have decided to work on the theme "Black and white, with a splash".
January - Just a simple still life of a pot of assorted tools on my desk with a pile of sketchbooks.
February - a random street with a prominent telephone kiosk. The sky was supposed to be very pale indeed, but the phone rang at the wrong moment and it was too late!
March - This church is around the corner from where I live. I have removed the bins, planted a tree, imported a bike and made a few other changes.
April - We stayed in a sweet Air b and b place in Torvizcon, Spain - The Sierra Nevada, near where my son lives in a yurt on top of a mountain. This is similar to the entrance.
May - I'm still hooked on London buses (see Made in Europe I and II). This is based on a photo I took.
A random window - lends itself nicely to Black and White with a Splash. Drawn and painted and stitched.
July - Don't ask me why but I was rather taken with my basket of pegs in the garden - there seem to be such a variety. Drawn, painted and stitched
John going upstairs. A splash of blue this time. Drawn, stitched and a little paint added sparingly.
September - a picture based on a photo I took in Bath one day.
October - a purely imaginary scene. I made stencils for the foreground foliage.
November - An imaginary and, hopefully, wistful view of a harbour, with pub.
December - "We'll meet beneath the station clock"..... A bit of imaginary nonsense!
